Day 14
LOOK OUT FOR DONKEYS!
The sign above would never be so true.
But we started the day in Kingman.
But quickly made our way into the desert mountains of Arizona.
A watchful wild mountain donkey standing guard over the area checking us out. Little did we know that out here, they are in charge.
My dad thought this was one of his favorite stretched of Route 66. It was two lane road through windy mountains, with no guardrail and it was very scenic.
Then we arrived in the old Wild West. The old mining town of Oatman.
Oatman is known for the wild mountain Donkeys that run the town. This one is checking us out as we arrive.
These two just pass us by, giving us the cold shoulder.
Are they going to eat us?
This was one of the most scenic wild west towns we've come across.
Turns out the Donkey are very friendly.
They go wherever they want.
The wild west.
Two donkeys pretending to be motorcycles.
Two motorcyclists being Jackasses.
Looking a donkey in the eye.
"The Classy Ass" Most of the businesses in Oatman are named after the famous wild donkeys.
They go pee where they want. They are in charge.
Donkey selfie.
This really happened!
One of the two restaurants in this town is decorated with dollar bills all over the walls.
They estimate over $100,000 on the walls.
This is the actual working post office!
Now leaving Oatman.
Still a beautiful place!
Now onto California!
Check back for more adventures along Route 66. For more footage and video of where we've already been, check out my dad's latest video of Carlsbad Caverns and the Blue Swallow Motel below.
