My dad just departed Portland, Oregon this morning in his 5 day trek to Chicago where we will begin the road trip. He posted a little message last night, which I will repeat here below. -Travis
Hello Everyone! Well here it is Friday night May 16th the night before I leave for Chicago to begin my Route 66 in my car Ragtop! I hope to leave by 5am tomorrow morning. My goal is to get Yellowstone Park by evening. I know I've set my first day goal very high, but i need to pickup my son Travis by thursday. He will be flying into O'hare' in the morning from NYC. We will spend the day sightseeing and leave down the Mother Road the next morning. We have a big trip ahead of us and will take about 3 weeks taking in the sights, the tastes, and the people of Route 66. Please follow us on our journey and exploration of this great American by-way.
